VALUATION OF THE WIND AS A SOURCE OF WIND ENERGY IN THE STATE OF GUERRERO

Keywords: Weibull distribution , Wind energy, state of Guerrero, wind, WRF model

Abstract

Globally, within renewable energies, wind energy is the fastest growing, but in México its use is relatively recent, however, with the energy reform, a rapid evolution of the market is expected. According to the report of the Mexican Electric Power Association, the closing of 2016, the wind energy only represents 3.5% of the total generation capacity in the country.
In this study, the results of the wind energy potential estimation in the state of Guerrero are presented, using the hourly wind parameters simulated with the WRF model for the years 2016 and 2017. The town of Olivares stands out, in the municipality of Coahuayutla de José María, located in the northwest of the state, with a generation capacity of 70.65 kWh per day, enough to provide electricity to 16 typical houses per wind turbine.
