Introducción a Técnicas de Segmentación de Células del Ensayo Cometa

Resumen

El ensayo cometa, o electroforesis unicelular en gel, ha sido un método de confianza para el estudio del daño de células de acido desoxirribonucleico (ADN), y la evaluación de su capacidad regenerativa al ser expuestas a una degradación. Debido a su alto grado de confianza y efectividad en los resultados del ensayo cometa, múltiples áreas han optado por implementar el método en sus estudios; desde ensayos de genotoxicidad y ecoxitología, hasta estudios de biomonitoreo en humanos. Dichos resultados, son registrados en imágenes mediante microscopios, de las cuales es posible extraer la información para el análisis estadístico de estado del ADN. Durante las últimas dos décadas, la intervención de algoritmos y métodos computacionales para automatizar el proceso de segmentación de las células en el ensayo cometa ha ido en aumento, convirtiéndose en una importante área de investigación y desarrollo. Este artículo presenta los trabajos realizados sobre análisis computacional de los resultados del ensayo cometa, describiendo sus metodologías, principales avances y áreas de oportunidad.
